The awning itself is of a heavy vinyl fabric, but yet easy to work with. Once we figured out what process we needed to get the awning back in the track, (needed to insert it in lighting channel first, removed from awning rail). All went very easy after that. You must make sure you have some way to restrain the awning arms from shooting down and possible injuring someone, or damage to rv or awning arms. Highly recommend using a silicone spray on all areas awning slides. Old awning and new.
